Our History
Established in 1985, Aurion was originally founded in QLD, where payroll requirements were designed and developed in conjunction with a Federal Government agency. In 1990 the company was incorporated and a year later, in 1991, Aurion re-located to our current head office premises in Brisbane. Today, Aurion employs over 40 staff and has offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. The calibre, motivation and commitment of our people and the richness of our products are the keys to our success. The four founding Directors and shareholders continue to work in the company in senior roles. One is the Managing Director and the other three are integral members of the development team.
Aurion has grown and adapted to satisfy the changing requirements of its customers and is recognised within the industry for its continued innovation. We were the first to bring a character-based HR information system to market in 1986 on a Wang computer. In subsequent years, the Aurion solution was migrated to a number of different technologies and platforms until deciding on Uniface by Compuware as our development and deployment environment.
Uniface is scalable and portable across a range of operating environments. Using Uniface makes Aurion 'future proof' as it takes care of changes in the underlying technical environment and allows organisations to leverage their existing IT environment.
In 1993, Aurion was the first Australian HR Solutions provider to develop a Web based employee access system for HR and Payroll. Our current Self Service products are now the 5th generation of that concept and we are still recognised as market leaders in this area. In 2003, Aurion developed the Aurion Query Tool (AQT), an ad-hoc report writer that is a totally integrated component of the Aurion eHRMIS. AQT was developed in conjunction with our customer base, whose requirements had superseded those of third party reporting tools.
Aurion's corporate structure underpins its long term stability. In June 2007 we completed a buyback of the historical Queensland Government shareholding. This was followed, in October 2007, with Aurion being sold to Ross Human Directions group. Ross Human Directions Limited (ASX:RHD) is a global Australian provider of Human Resources Management, Recruitment and Technology Solutions.
